What is philosophy?

Everyone has their own philosophy, so the definition is relative. Thoughts and theories about what we have no fact of. Human action and evolution supports these theories.

Hali,

As you'll see over these next 2 months, there are different meanings of the word Philosophy.

In one way it is used to describe a particular individual's or group's approach to life; in another way it refers to the systematic investigation of life's big questions--an area of study that has been around for thousands of years.

What generally distinguishes these two is the way these big life questions are approached.

Philosophy and philosophers seek to answer life's big questions through logic and reason--rather than by way of feelings and social customs. While both methods are valuable, they're very different in theory and practice.

As you'll see in our text, we'll be investigating some of the most famous investigations of life's big questions in the history of philosophy. I guarantee we will have some interesting discussions. So while right now you may be "over it", I encourage you to just hang in there. :) KJP
